Your items will show up regularly, and you’ll only have to phone in the intermittent portion of your order. The time you save placing orders can be spent with patients!

Your Account Manager has a tremendous number of tools at their disposal to research products and provide incredible savings. All you have to do is ask! Utilize the Book of Free Stuff: Most of our clients have got this down, but if you’re new, be sure to save the 24-page Book of Free Stuff that comes with every order. We create this publication to highlight the best free goods promotions available each quarter. Take advantage of free goods to help lower your net cost. The book has hundreds of promotions for a quick and definitive guide that will ensure you’re stretching every dollar as far as possible.

The Tradeshow Order Buzz – Benefit With Or Without A Ticket
Posted by AM-Touch, 10/12/2012 09:24:27 AM
Every year, thousands of dentists converge on any number of industry tradeshows across the U.S. Their reasons for the dental pilgrimage can vary from year to year, but done right, it is nearly impossible to walk away without some benefit.
A good deal is king at tradeshows and the savviest practices do their homework ahead of time to know exactly what deals they want and how they can receive the best rewards for their purchase. For some equipment, just walking the floor could provide a tremendous value in education.
While many benefits of a tradeshow are on site, an increasing number of manufacturers, distributors and practices are finding under-the-radar advantages of just being around the tradeshow buzz.
Use the following tips to make sure you get the most out of every nearby tradeshow, with or without the sore feet.
Away From The Show
Most people assume that if they aren’t going to attend a tradeshow, they won’t qualify for any specials or promotions. Not true. Many manufacturers have started offering their promotions within a set period of time before and/or after the show. Additionally, super-fun distributors like us at AM-Touch Dental might offer our own rewards during the show period. Check with your AM-Touch Account Manager to see what's available.
Update: AM-Touch will be offering specials for the ADA Tradeshow October 18-20. 2012. Call your representative to ask how you can save BIG!
So theoretically, an office could place a tradeshow order with AM-Touch over the phone and receive the same discount or free goods as if they were standing at our booth. If planned properly, offices can place major bulk orders that qualify them for an incredible amount of free goods usually unavailable any other time of the year.
At The Show
Not all manufacturers extend their promotions outside of the convention center. Some plan major offers strictly around the exhibit hall hours and you must be on hand to purchase. This, combined with vendor contests and giveaways, offer a slew of opportunities for fun and savings only available to those in attendance.
Big purchases are big decisions, especially those involving equipment, tools or major operational infrastructure. Dotted among those carpeted isles of the convention center are sleek show rooms and mini-workstations where you can get hands on with the big items you’re considering.
The ability to test drive multiple different brands, types and fits in one weekend is a major benefit when making such a large decision, and it often creates a more educated and thereby empowered consumer.
Even the smaller purchases can make a major difference. Technology moves fast these days and every year a new crop of products promise to change the way dentists work. In this way a tradeshow can act as a dozen lunch n’ learns in one. Doctors and hygienists can get hands on with the latest and greatest products that could potentially earn them more money, save them more time, and make for happier patients.
And while the sea of bodies that makes up any tradeshow can seem daunting, in there somewhere are valuable relationships waiting to be made. Manufacturer representatives, consulting firms and colleagues all carry intrinsic value. Anyone capable of giving great advice understands the value of relationships and the advice that is born thereof.
When calculating the benefit of any given tradeshow, it is important to consider not only money saved, but also knowledge earned, free goods received and relationships made. Ultimately a successful tradeshow experience relies on an involved participant, on the show floor or beyond.

A “Place” On The Web – Free Advertising At Its Best
Posted by AM-Touch, 7/25/2011 12:15:23 PM
There are many ways to advertise a dental office these days. You can hit the phone book, develop a website, advertise on local television, or even hire someone to stand outside your office in a giant tooth costume waving at passing cars.
Advertising is important – we all know that. Problem is, it’s not cheap. But there is one absolutely essential marketing tool that won’t cost you a dime and won’t take more than a few clicks of your mouse.
Google has developed “Place Pages,” which is essentially a business listing that appears before local web surfers when they search a term relevant to your business. Signing up for your own Google Place page is free, and the results are incredibly valuable.
Free Advertising
First, by setting up a Google Place page for your business, you ensure that you’ll be in the mix of local businesses that pop up on the screen when a specific search term is entered on Google.
For example, Jon Dell (me) goes to Google and searches for “Dentists.” Google knows that I’m in Valencia, CA, so in addition to your normal search results (definition of dentist, dental schools, e.t.c) a section called “Places for Dentists near Valencia, CA” pops up. In my case, it’s the third result on the page. In it, I see about 7 dentists in my town, their address, phone number and how many reviews they have.
As a Marketing guy, I can’t help but be impressed. Companies spend tens of thousands of dollars every year trying to increase their presence in search results and these dentists were able to get a PRIME spot near the top for free? It sounds too good to be true, but it’s not. It’s actually part of Google’s plan to deliver the most relevant information to searchers, and you’re a beneficiary of that.
*Note, there’s no way of guaranteeing where your place page will show up in the search results. Competition, keyword value and a few million other factors determine when and where your place page shows up, so be patient.
Reviews = Credibility
It’s one thing to get free advertising, but it’s another thing to get reviews. Like word-of-mouth, reviews are much more powerful than any advertisement money can buy. People trust people, and the Internet has brought reviewing to a whole new level.
When you develop a Google Place page, consumers will have the ability to rate your business and write reviews. You have absolutely no control over what they write, but you do have the ability to monitor your reviews and respond as necessary. I know that’s a scary proposition, but reviews usually even out. Readers aren’t stupid, and they disregard fake or overly vicious reviews.
The good news is that reviews build credibility. They allow the good doctors, the great customer service and the hard work to shine though.
Crave Input
Like finding a $5 bill in your jacket pocket, Google Place pages have one more pleasant surprise. When you activate your place page you also get access to analytical data that tracks how web searchers found you, which keywords they used and where they came from.
It’s up to you to use the data wisely and help refine all other modes of advertising.
More?
Yes there is more. Your Place page comes equipped with some nice customizable features, including the ability to display a coupon.
Additionally, Google has an integrated paid advertising program called ADWords, that’s conveniently managed in your Place page admin section. If you’re looking to do any pay-per-click adverting, you can add that on through your existing Place page.
In order to get started, all you’ll need is a Google account, which is also free to anyone. Setting up a Place page is pretty straight forward, although you will need to verify the account through SMS or a telephone number. But the process is harmless and very, very easy. You can learn more about the process directly from Google.
As with all marketing tips, there is no silver bullet. A Google Place page won’t be all you need to survive this tough economy. But honestly, its value/cost ratio will almost always be 100%. Those are odds you won’t find in Las Vegas.

Top 5 Alternative Uses For Saliva Ejectors
Posted by AM-Touch, 6/13/2011 03:27:12 PM
Until today, Saliva Ejectors across the Country have been viewed as hardware; tools to be used for shuffling icky saliva to the drain in an effort to make the doctor’s job easier and the patients more comfortable. And what reward do these heavy lifters get after a job well done? They’re tossed in the trash, too filthy to autoclave and too easy to replace.
Well, we at AM-Touch Dental see more than that in our hard working bendable buddies. We believe that our AM-Touch Saliva Ejectors are incredible at ejecting saliva, but they’re also capable of so much more. Below – The Top 5 Alternative Uses for Saliva Ejectors!
Pocket Drumsticks
Who doesn’t love a coworker that constantly drums on the desk? Whether it’s tapping along with the radio, an impromptu John Bonham solo or simple inter-office revenge for breaking into their personal stash of M&Ms, some folks just can’t keep from drumming. With a gently bulbous tip, AM-Touch Saliva Ejectors make perfect mini drumsticks. Order varying tip colors or personalize with standard markers to create a custom set of sticks that would make even Carter Beauford proud.
Tic-Tac-Toe Board
Need to be mildly entertained for two and a half minutes? Play the world’s most well known and least challenging game; Tic-Tac-Toe! Simply use 4 Saliva Ejectors to create the board and paper clips/thumbtacks as the game pieces.
Birthday Princess Crown
We’ve featured some birthday-specific alternative uses for products before, but this one is especially for the ladies. Say you forget a coworker’s birthday. You arrive, see cake, birthday cards and heartfelt gifts waiting for that special person and the only thing in your hands is a half-eaten granola bar and your car keys. Fear not! Head to the supply closet for a few saliva ejectors, grab some tape and start construction on an elegant princess crown. Use the pliability of the Saliva Ejectors to get the perfect shape, add flair and customize fit. Ask the birthday girl to close her eyes and place the crown on her head. Tell her to open her eyes and announce “you’re the office princess today!” Then hurry back to your desk and hope she doesn’t look in the mirror until she gets home.
A Quiet Way To Interrupt
Sometimes you just need to get your colleague’s attention! But that doesn’t mean you have to be abrasive, intrusive, or even nearby! Connect two or more of our Saliva Ejectors to gently tap whoever you need without alarming them or interrupting an important call. Sure you won’t be able to use any actual words to communicate, but that’s not important. Just extend your arm and with a gentle tap of the saliva ejector on the shoulder….BAM! You’ve got the main stage. How will you use it? We recommend showing them a funny picture of your cat…again.
Street Line Dividers for Pet Turtle Races
No doubt you’ve heard of Teacup Turtle Racing, the 6th most popular sport in the Marshall Islands. Essentially, a daunting maze-like track is constructed over a two square foot area. Tiny pet turtles, dressed in a variety of bold and exciting race wear are released onto the track at the sound of a cap gun. Three action-packed days later, one turtle successfully emerges at the end of the track. Aside from the glory and respect earned from a hard-fought victory, the winning reptile also gets an entire leaf of iceberg lettuce!
And now to the really incredible part…AM-Touch Brand Saliva Ejectors are available for purchase now! Click here for pricing on all varieties or click here to see the tens of thousands of other products available to you right now.
Legal note: Yes, in this time of legal scrutiny we are obliged to make disclaimers as to the appropriate use of the products listed in this article. They should only be used as indicated in our current AM-Touch Dental Catalog. Using them in any other way, much like using a plastic shopping bag as a parachute, is neither recommended nor endorsed by AM-Touch Dental.

If It Seems Too Good To Be True…
Posted by AM-Touch, 5/16/2011 03:50:13 PM
The issue of gray market products isn’t about money, it’s about liability.
Over the course of the past few years, the healthcare industry has been at odds with the “gray market.” The term refers to both legitimate and illegitimate product sold through unauthorized channels to doctors in the U.S. The product usually emerges from the gray market at a much lower price than retail suggests.
While it’s easy to see the upside in savings, many dentists or purchasing managers don’t see the myriad liabilities, which can include faulty product, expired product and even legal trouble.
Many gray market products start off as the real thing. They are shipped to an international destination, usually a second or third world country where the retail price is much lower than the U.S. Rather than reach its intended target, the product is sold back to a dealer in the U.S. and sent back. Even after the long roundtrip journey, the product can still be sold at half the price of its legitimate counterpart.
Gray market purchasing is primarily a practice of small, unauthorized dealers who can’t get the product otherwise. But don’t take too much comfort in the fact that most gray market products start off as legitimate. The distribution shell game often damages the product to the point where it is considered useless or even dangerous.
Here are a few common problems associated with gray market product:
1. In other countries, there’s no regulation to ensure that the product is stored properly. Sensitive products won’t work as designed if they are not taken care of, resulting in faulty product reaching the end user.
2. There’s no telling how long the product been in transit and/or storage. A boat trip halfway around the world is long enough; add to it the inevitable time sitting on a dock and the long return trip. Even if the product manages to retain it’s storage demands, it might just simply expire by the time it gets back. To make matters worse, many times expired product is repackaged with a new expiration date so you never really know what you’re getting.
3. All manufacturer warranties are null and void for gray market products. Obviously, manufacturers will only back up product they can guarantee was stored and delivered in accordance with their specifications. Product purchased from unauthorized dealers means no returns and no refunds. This is especially sensitive when it comes to legal liability for a product malfunction. When gray market product comes into question, the doctors who made the purchase will find themselves all alone if forced to answer.
And while the term “gray market” refers to unauthorized product, it is inherently associated with counterfeit product as well. There have been reports of false product being packaged and resold under popular brand names. This is the most serious violation of purchasing trust, and manufacturers are ultra-aggressive in stamping out this practice.
Probably the biggest, and perhaps the most important question you may be asking yourself is…how can you tell if your products are coming from “gray market” sources?
Price is the biggest indicator. Half-off sticker price is almost always a red flag.
Packaging is also a key indicator. If the expiration date appears tampered with, contact the manufacturer for verification. It is also becoming common practice for manufacturers to market their products under a different name or packaging in other countries. If it doesn’t look normal, start asking questions.
In the healthcare environment, where liabilities are increasingly lumped on practices, doctors and manufacturers, it really does pay to be safe rather than sorry. Most manufacturers have a list of authorized dealers posted on their website, and you can always call to verify a source’s validity.
When you partner with companies like AM-Touch Dental, you get peace of mind knowing that your purchase is backed up by us and the manufacturer. In turn, your patients receive the best product for their oral health and your business and reputation don’t suffer. The value in that far outweighs any gray market temptation.
In an effort to help offices identify and combat gray market ordering, AM-Touch Dental developed plans to maximize manufacturer promotions and internal discounts to keep product costs low for our clients. To speak with an AM-Touch Account Manager about this program, call 800.350.4568.
